Game Info: Progress - January 20th 2007
It had been many moons since I worked last on this, my darling project, Faeguard. Practical things took over, like work and the return to school. (I'm 28, so going back is a big decision.) I have other interests, too - writing, reading (voraciously), my wife, friends, family, gaming, and the list goes on.But, the time off is a good thing. Quest has been updated to Quest 4.0. Because of the help I gave in playtesting the beta, (I believe I did very little to warrant this), I received a free copy of the Pro version of the software, and $50 at Amazon. Which works out well with my reading addiction. Also, I have had time to contemplate ASL a little more, with some helpful comments coming from the forums about keeping things simple (KISS-able), and not overcomplicating. So much of the code has been changed or completely redone.
I currently have an Ask/Tell/Introduce method of conversations working brilliantly. I know this is pretty simple, and has some trade-off with other methods, but it puts more pressure and responsibility on the quality of writing. Which is good. As much as a game is about coding, it is also about writing. The Ask/Tell method forces the hand, so to speak.
S'all for now.
